More Gaming for Good Causes
The Breast Cancer Brawl was a smash success with $415 raised for the Pink and Black Campaign. I should have some photos of the event to share with you all in the next week or so. I know the ladies from Pink and Black are looking forward to seeing them. Thanks all for coming out.
While you wait for photos, let me direct your attention to two other events coming up in the near future:
Gaming for Giving - first up is gaming to support Toys for Tots on November 8th in New Haven, CT. Bring a new unwrapped toy (or a $10 donation) to get in the door of the mini-convention and a $5 donation to enter the 500pt mixed steamroller tournament.
Foodmachine/Hordes of Cans - Bring your massive piles of canned goods to this charity event at Danger Planet in Waltham on November 22nd. We’re collecting food for a local food bank in need and the rules of the 750pt mixed tournament will allow lots of opportunities to donate.
For details and more events, check out the official calendar here on the site.
See you at the gaming tables,
- Paul

Gaming for a Good Cause
Hey Everyone,
As you’re reading this, I’m getting ready to travel off to GenCon for a long weekend of little sleep and gamer overload. I don’t say that to rub it in for those not going, but rather to tell you that I’ve got you all on my mind in my planning. You see, GenCon gives me the opportunity to pick up some really neat stuff for tournaments in the future. We’ve got some big ones coming up and I’ll have my eye out at GenCon for some unique prizes.
In the meantime, let me just put out there at the NEPRIVATEERS crew is planning to support a number of charity events this fall in the spirit of gaming for a good cause as we’ve done in years past. So, mark your calendars and get ready. In mid-October we’ll be running the second annual Breast Cancer Brawl to raise money for breast cancer awareness, research, and prevention at the Hobby Bunker in Malden, MA. This is part of the Breast Cancer Brawl movement that started there last year and was covered in past issues of No Quarter. To get ready you can go the the website ( www.breastcancerbrawl.com ) to download the rules packet and see how you can support the effort.
Also, keep your calendar open for November when we’ll bring back the second Thrall Harvest canned food drive tournament to benefit local food pantries. This was a smash hit last year and we’re hoping to collect even more this year to beat out the other towns around the country and to help those who are in tight times now.
See you after GenCon,
Paul

Team Challenge Was a Massive Success!!!
OK, I don’t know about the other guys, but I’m finally awake and the first thing I did is get to my computer to post some results and pictures.
Yesterday was a blast! We had a total of 38 players turn out for the tournament from 6 states. We got a late start with the first round kicking off at 11:45 and didn’t wrap up until 10:00pm with awards taking until 10:30. It was a massive day of gaming. We packed the downstairs gaming room at Danger Planet to capacity, took over all the card tables and demo tables in the upstairs retail space, and had to overflow out the back door to a couple tables set up on sawhorses under a tent in the back parking lot.
In the end, Team SOB won the team trophy, the free passes to TempleCon, a bunch of coins, store gift certificates, and assorted other cool stuff.
Bo won the random drawing from among the fully painted armies for the first time that I know of - and about time since he painted three of the 9 armies that were in the drawing.
I’ll have to check my notes on the other prizes and get back with an update later.

No More Faction Coins - New Steamroller prize kits
Hello everyone,
Yes, I’m afraid the rumors you’ve all been hearing are true. The faction coins we’ve all been winning for HORDES and WARMACHINE events are going away. As I type this, the last of the faction coins (40 sets at last count) are being sent out from Privateerpress HQ not to be seen again.
However, don’t worry too much as your New England Press Gangers still have a few sets of these coins stashed around for some last chance events and several store owners in the area have been reported to be scouring the distributors to get prize kits still in inventory with them. So, keep your eyes open for upcoming events as it’s likely that the last of these coins will be won locally by GenCon, if not earlier.
What happens after all the coins are gone, you ask. Well, worry not, as we have shiny new Steamroller prize coins on the horizon for future events. These are designed for mixed play events so they’re in sets of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place coins rather than one for every faction. Thanks to a fellow Press Ganger who’s already gotten a set, I have a few photos here for you to drool over and look forward to winning post-GenCon:

Temple of Steam World Tour!
No, it’s not a new glam-rock band.  TempleCon 2008 was such a huge success that we’re working to make TempleCon 2009 even bigger. To do that, the New England Privateers have teamed up with the TempleCon crew to bring you a series of official TempleCon sponsored tournaments around the New England area (and maybe beyond) over the next year leading up to TempleCon 2009.
What makes these different than regular tournaments, you ask. Well, in addition to normal prizes that we have for all our events, we’ll be able to offer you special TempleCon prizes like free weekend passes to TempleCon 2009, TempleCon T-shirts, and more. The specific details will vary from tournament to tournament. Temple of Steam World Tour tournaments will be coming up scattered throughout the year. We’ll mark them clearly, so keep your eyes open.
The first event is set for Northeast Wars in Burlington, VT on April 3-5.  See you there.

TempleCon 2008 Aftermath
The round-trip whirlwind that was TempleCon 2008 is over and it was a BLAST! In 2006 we had 24 local players show up to compete in a handful of tournaments; in 2007 we introduced scenario tables and more tournaments which drew 44 players from as far away as New Jersey; and in 2008 we convinced Privateer Press to loan us Dan (Biggie) and Kevin to add Beat the Quartermaster and HARDCORE to the list of offerings. This drew a total of 69 WARMACHINE and HORDES players from as far away as

New Year, New Site
Welcome to 2008 everyone.  You might have noticed that the NEPRIVATEERS.COM site is undergoing a bit of a face lift.  Don’t worry, the fact that it looks a bit like crap right now is just temporary.  The old site was growing unwieldy and needed replacing.  This new format (don’t let the blog software fool you, it’s still the site dedicated to the Iron Kingdoms and PP games) will let me clean up some of the clutter, focus on the best services to the New England playing community (events calendar, store listings, and announcements), and have some of the other regional Press Gangers contribute as well.
Keep watching this space.  The calendar and other functions should be up within a few days.  Then I’ll mess with the appearance issues.
